| Brief Biography: Simon Bauer was born 17 October 1827 in Katholisch, Overailingen, Donaukreis, Wuerttemberg, Germany to Joseph Bauer and Maria Anna Amann. He arrived in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Jul 8, 1850 age 21. He enlisted in the US Army Jan 7, 1852 and was in Rifle Company E, Jefferson Barracks, MO, served as a blacksmith in Cantonment Burgwin, New Mexico.
He married Kate Mock in 1862. They moved to St. Joseph, MO.
He received a pension from serving in the Army.

Simon Bauer, 80 years old, died Dec. 16, 1908, 3:45 a.m. at the family residence, 803 S. 10th st. Survived by widow, 6 children and 2 grandchildren--Mrs. W.J. Quarles, Emma C. Bauer, John F., Charles I., Seymour C.,Helen and Bauer Brown of this city, and A.P. Bauer of Denver, Colo. Funeral will be held from residence Friday, 2 o,clock p.m. Interment at Mount Mora. Friends of family invited. |
